Enterprise instant-messaging (IM) infrastructure provider Cordant Inc. said it is now a third-party solutions provider for Microsoft Exchange2000 Server Instant Messaging.
Bellevue, Wash.-based Cordant said its IMScribe archiving and compliance product is the first component of an IM platform that builds on Microsoft enterprise Instant Messaging offerings such as Exchange2000 Server.
Becoming a third-party solutions provider for Exchange2000 Server IM reinforces Cordant's commitment to extend Microsoft enterprise IM technology to more fully address critical business needs and transform enterprise communication with customers, officials said.
"IMScribe enables enterprises deploying Exchange2000 Server Instant Messaging to meet regulatory and liability requirements for instant messaging communications," said Cordant Director of Sales Eric Rembold, in a statement. "IMScribe's comprehensive archiving and monitoring functionality enables Financial Services firms to comply with SEC regulations (SEC 17a-4 and NASD 3010) related to electronic communication."
IMScribe was announced in December 2001, after extensive beta testing and feedback from large enterprise customers, Cordant added.
Cordant's close ties with Microsoft make sense, as company Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sonu Aggarwal comes from Microsoft through the sale of his Boston-based Flash Communications, which he co-founded and led as chief operating officer. As lead program manager for Microsoft's Exchange Instant Messaging, Aggarwal led the Exchange Instant Messaging team. He was instrumental in developing the Microsoft vision for enterprise IM, and the design and architecture of Exchange Instant Messaging, a note at the Cordant Web site says.
At the recent Instant Messaging Planet Spring 2002 Conference and Expo, Aggarwal said that his Flash Communications was the first firm to not only have the first patent in the enterprise IM space, the company was also the first to send an instant message in the enterprise IM environment.
